Our collaborative research with Dr. Roling group on "Electrocatalytic Nitrate Reduction on Oxide-Derived Silver with Tunable Selectivity to Nitrite and Ammonia" was published in ACS Catalysis. In this work, we reported our finding on exceptionally high nitrate-to-nitrite selectivity on silver electrodes. By coupling the electrocatalytic nitrate-to-nitrite on an oxide-derived silver (OD-Ag) with higher surface area and activity, with a catalytic nitrite-to-dinitrogen on a Pd catalyst using H2 derived from water electrolysis, a combined electrocatalytic-catalytic process has been demonstrated as an alternative strategy for innovative nitrate removal from real agricultural wastewater. The acquired kinetic and computation insights can also be beneficial to advancing the nitrogen-centric electrocatalysis science and technologies.
