Our collaborative research with Dr. Roling group on "Electrocatalytic Nitrate Reduction on Oxide-Derived Silver with Tunable Selectivity to Nitrite and Ammonia" was published in ACS Catalysis. In this work, we reported our finding on exceptionally high nitrate-to-nitrite selectivity on silver electrodes. By coupling the electrocatalytic nitrate-to-nitrite on an oxide-derived silver (OD-Ag) with higher surface area and activity, with a catalytic nitrite-to-dinitrogen on a Pd catalyst using H2 derived from water electrolysis, a combined electrocatalytic-catalytic process has been demonstrated as an alternative strategy for innovative nitrate removal from real agricultural wastewater.The acquired kinetic and computation insights can also be beneficial to advancing the nitrogen-centric electrocatalysis science and technologies. Our work in electrochemical synthesis of ammonia was accepted for publication in Green Chemistry. We reported that a membrane-free electrochemical cell can provide a green and economic way of lithium deposition for mediated ammonia synthesis from nitrogen gas and water.
